Terms and Conditions – Custom Steel WorkX

1. Product Guarantee / Warranty

• Structural guarantee: 5 years.
• Color finishes: 1 year.
• Hot dip galvanised products:
  • 4 years corrosion resistance for inland installations.
  • 2 years corrosion resistance for coastal installations.
  • Products may develop natural bends or warping due to the high-temperature galvanising process. This is a normal characteristic and does not constitute a defect.
• Galvanised and powder coated products:
  • The finish may not be perfectly smooth due to the galvanising process.
  • Minor surface irregularities are not considered grounds for warranty claims.
• Stainless steel products:
  • Covered under the 5-year structural guarantee.
  • Although stainless steel is corrosion-resistant, it may develop surface oxidation (tea-staining) if not properly maintained.
  • To prevent this, stainless steel must be regularly cleaned with appropriate non-abrasive cleaners. Failure to maintain the product may void the warranty.
• Motors, automation systems, locks, and electronic locks:
  • Supplied with a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty.
  • Custom Steel WorkX provides a 1-year workmanship warranty on installation.
  • After this period, call-out fees and repair charges will apply.

Guarantees are subject to regular cleaning, servicing, and maintenance by the purchaser.
Fair wear and tear is excluded.
Natural rust, oxidation, or damage from lack of maintenance is not covered.
Any defects must be reported in writing within 3 days after installation.
If a defect is confirmed, the supplier may, at its discretion, repair or replace the affected product.
The warranty is valid only for the original purchaser and is non-transferable.

2. Indemnity / Liability

• The supplier is not liable for damages to water pipes, electrical wiring, tiles, plaster, cornices, or other existing structures during installation.
• No liability is accepted for losses, damages, or deterioration caused by:
  • Failure to properly maintain the goods.
  • Modifications not authorised by the supplier.
  • Normal wear and tear.
  • Environmental exposure or natural deterioration over time.
  • Misuse, abuse, accidental or malicious damage.
• The supplier indemnifies the client for personal injury or death of any Custom Steel WorkX installers while performing their duties on site.

3. Ownership & Payment

• Products remain the property of Custom Steel WorkX until full payment has been received.
• If payment is not made in full, the supplier reserves the right to remove products from the premises, even if installed.
• If an order is cancelled, any deposit paid will be forfeited.

4. Lead Times & Waiting Charges

• All factory lead times provided are estimates. If delays occur, the supplier will notify the purchaser, and revised timelines must be confirmed in writing.
• If site time has been allocated for installation but work cannot proceed due to the site not being ready, inaccessible, or otherwise unsuitable for installation, the following charges will apply:
  • A rate of R750 per hour (or part thereof) will be billed for waiting time.
  • Any hired equipment, machinery, or tools arranged specifically for the site will be billed in full, regardless of delays.
